Q: Why is my window foggy and how do I fix it?
A: Older windows will often develop condensation from moisture. If you see fog in your windows, you likely have a problem with your window’s insulation. An insulated window’s seal should prevent fogging, but if it doesn’t, the seal failed and you need to replace your window. If you decide to get your window “de-fogged,” you may need to repeat that process in 6 months’ time. We recommend getting it replaced by contacting us.
Q: How do I know if my window seal has failed and what do I do about it?
A: Your window will appear foggy and may have condensation running between the panes. You may notice rust on the interior banding and you will not be able to wipe or clear this window. If you are experiencing these issues, you know who to call.
Q: How can I tell where this window leak is coming from?
A: Leaks can be tricky! They often enter far from where they expose themselves within your home. At Eastern Glass, we are trained to detect leaks and resolve the issue, using industry leading products backed by industry leading training. When it comes to leaks, act now – don’t wait.

Q: What is Low-E glass?
A: Low-E is short for ‘Low Emissivity.’ The term “emissivity” means the amount of radiation put out or absorbed from a surface. The main difference between Low-E glass and ordinary glass is that Low-E glass has a thin coating applied to one side. Low-e glass keeps the heat in when it’s cold and keeps it out when it’s warm. It also protects furniture from fading due to UV rays. It’s a great product that lasts, while adding great protection and efficiency to your windows. Furthering your homes heat retention, this product also lends a hand keeping your home cool in summer months.
Q: What is argon gas and what are the benefits?
A: Argon is a colourless, odorless inert gaseous element. It’s commonly used in welding and casting industries. Using it protects the metal that’s being worked on from exposure to oxygen. It’s beneficial because adding argon to the glass unit in double-pane windows greatly improves thermal insulation efficiency. It also brings the inner window pane closer to room temperature.
